My baby is 15 weeks and I have started to add rice cereal to his formula due to reflux. However I noticed he doesn't eat as frequently as he use to but still eats about 8 oz each feeding. As far as I know he is putting on wieght( he is already 16lbs/8oz) I just wanted to know if adding the cereal changes the frequency of eating.

Please don't put cereal in your babies bottle. Yes they would eat less because the cereal takes longer to digest.

In my experience, yes. My baby started on Enfamil AR, which is thickened with rice starch. But when we had to take her off of that for other reasons, we had to start adding rice to each bottle to lessen the spitting up. Her intake dropped quite a bit.

I started putting a little cereal in my sons bottle only at night. He kept waking himself with grunting, and rumbling belly. Since I started he is quiet and comfy at night and not rolling all over the place. He only eats less at night since I started but the rest of the day is the same.
