If not, then why don't they put forward meaningful legislation to end the war and bring the troops home...rather than generating endless sound bites through meaningless non-binding resolutions?

because to actually take action would be used against them in the next election, and they know it. Personal survival trumps political views every time.

They are in a tough situation. They have to appear that they are doing something to the liberal base but if they do what they have the total power to do than they would be accused of not supporting our troops. It is a fine line they walk. The current resolution, by the way, is being held up by Republicans.

They do not have the votes to end the war before it is finished. All they can do is bark right now because thankfully they have no bite.

Even they know that a pullout would be a total disaster and a black-eye for the country. So, yes, they are just posturing.

All their criticism before the election has backfired in their face. They have always known the importance of the war!
