Bad luck to pass someone else on the staircase. This superstition is based on the Architecture of old English Castles with spiral staircases - The staircases were thin, with no barriers, the step width on the inside much thinner than the outside and people had a habit of being accidentally knocked over the edge by the person they were passing.

Walking under a ladder - somebody told me it was because you are breaking through the holy trinity by walking through the triangle made by the ladder, the wall and the ground. Personally I think its because you're likely to get a pot of paint on your head!

Unlucky to put new shoes on a table. Unlucky to whistle in a theatre dressing room, or to wish the actors "good luck".

Lucky for a black cat to cross your path, or to see a chimney sweep (they're often invited to weddings to bring good luck) (sweep not cat)!
