Or if not in P.D., who the current copyright holder is. I usually tell people to try the local public library with research-type questions, but no one at MY public libaray knew what direction to point me in.

I'm not sure of what genre your music falls into, However there is a public library in New York that might be able to help.

Type into your computer
Library of Performing Arts, Lincoln Center, New York ... click on the first entry on the screen that comes up and you will find that you can send them an e-mail with your request..... OK? Good.
