When I used to waitress, we would put ice cubes, salt, and lemon slices in the pot...swish it around for a couple of minutes..The salt would act as the scrubber and get the film off... it worked great and there were no worries of chemicals being added...then just run vinegar through the machine, followed by fresh water...Good luck!!

Yes and happens to be exactly what I was going to tell you to do.
Use between 1/2 cup to 1 cup of white vinegar and pour into the water chamber and run it through the pot about 3 or 4 times. Make sure that the vinegar is not diluted. After the 3 of 4 times, dump the vinegar out and then run straight water through another 3 or 4 times.
Also, if you are making coffee on a regular basis, then once a week pour about a 1/2 cup of bleach into the actual glass part of the coffee pot and add hot water until it's filled to the top. Let it soak for a few hours and then rinse thoroughly or in a dishwasher.

Yes ....thats what you do and after you have run the straight vinegar through a couple of time, make sure you straight water through a few times also. Another option is to buy a coffee pot descaler its a liquid you can buy at Walmart in the coffe pot section for a few dollars.

you may want to clean out the tube the water flows through you may have hard water deposit buildup vinegar would help that also but be sure to run water 2 or 3 times after to rid any residue- the pot can be cleaned using tabasco crushed ice and salt throw it in pot and shake around works excellant

Yes! Vinegar works well. You can use it full strentgh OR dilute it. It will, however, stink to high heaven (depending on how strong you use it).
You can also try a diluted solutin of Oxy Clean. Just be sure to run clean water through it once or twice afterwards to flush it.
GOOD LUCK!!

You can use vinegar diluted with water. I would run it a second time with plain water just to make sure there is no vinegar left.
