The Spurs deserve to be considered good because they have made smart decisions. They have drafted very well, they have signed their guys to contracts that dont cripple the team for years to come. Above all else they have won. Recently their 3 championships, and throughout the years they have always been a playoff contender. The management is smart and never stray from their usual ways of doing things. They also make the players they have feel comfortable enough that those players want to stay with the team, even if it is for less money. The same holds true for players from other teams deciding where there next team comes from, they choose San Antonio for the reasons stated above and this next one. The coaches treat their guys fair and equal. From the superstar to the 12th man, this has led to them be such a cohesive team and leading to the victories and success they have "earned". Many teams in sports should follow the formula, but many upon many wont.

the spurs play defense unlike the suns! the suns is the only team that can score 115 points in a game and still get beat! the mavs was the same until avery johnson started coaching there ex spur i may add and now the mavs are good because there defense! suns can keep on winning 50-60 games a year but if they do not play defense against the spurs or mavs they just a good warm up for the spurs and mavs defense before the nba finals! over and over everybody should know great defense shuts down great offense! peyton manning proved that he could not have won a super bowl if it wasn't for his defense! the spurs play defense you know that end of the court where you keep the other team from scoring maybe they should tell suns that and maybe we could have a playoff race between 3 teams in the west instead of just the mavs and spurs!

Somebody's jealous. It's not their fans fault that the management has made good decisions and the coaching has been great. Not to mention the players all play to win. This team and their fans deserve all the success they have.

It has to be their management and coaching. They're a dangerous team with a stable and consistent play, that's why they're are not as fun as the Suns but I'm just hoping Suns won't face them in the playoff.

similar to the NFL's Patriots:
1. collect players who want to win championships more than they want individual acclaim.
2. collect players who don't start brawls or get arrested.
it's not sexy, but it works.
