Do you think this lady spent too much time in space? Is there a man on earth worth fighting for? Judging from his photos he is just an average looking middle age guy and certainly not a hunk. You women baffle me at times.

Yeah. It's probably not even really about him - just a manifestation of the problems in her life at the moment...she seems to be having some very tough personal issues. Unfortunately, now she has even bigger problems to deal with. You've got to feel sorry for her 3 kids...

Maybe it wasn't really about Ofelein at all, as press reports state that Nowak and her husband of many years had separated just weeks before this. It could have been that Nowak was just nuts over the separation and saw Ofelein as a way to have someone to love her again.

Maybe he said a few nice things to her, told her a couple jokes- and when someone is *that* vulnerable, they can magnify things that other people do and say and imagine that the actions or words mean more than they do.

Perhaps your real question is why can't some women (and men) exist alone? Why the driving force to always have to be in a relationship with someone? And then there's that whole issue of competition and that all astronauts thrive on it. I think these two major issues combined to create an astronut. And I don't think that you can use Nowak as any kind of example for all women.

Could be. I don't know. But what I do know is this. The people in the astronaut program have more stress in their lives every day then most people do for 10 years. None of us can possibly understand what that life is like. If she broke a little, well I am going to have a hard time judging her. I think the woman needs some time, some people to care about her, and some vacation. And if she needed somebody to take her out to dinner, I would have no problem taking on that responsibility.

I really don't know how she was chosen as an astronaut in the first place. So I think it must have been that she spent too much time in space. I agree, there is not a man on earth worth fighting for and doing what she did.

Astro-Nut, good I like it!
I dont understand what she was fighting for. They said she is married with 2 kids and obviously not even having a relationship with this guy. But hey, lets slap on a Depends and go! Well one thing is for certain, her next ticket to ride will be one way...............
