The nice thing about downtown is, you can walk from any casino on Fremont street to any other in 5 minutes. So no matter where you stay, you can play anywhere, and take advantage of the best of each.

The best rooms are at Fitzgerald's, ask for a room on an upper floor on the south side, great view of the strip.

The 4 Queens is probably the easiest to get a comp room for your next trip and they have some very nice Jacuzzi suites.

The Horseshoe is clean, nothing special

The Plaza is being renovated so hopefully they will do a good job, this place really needed it.

They all have the usual table games, Texas Hold'em Poker rooms and such, the Fitz & 4Q have single deck BJ. They all have at least some good video poker, the Horseshoe is the best of the lot with full pay(JOB/DB/DW/JWKOB)

The 4 Quees has the best restaurant of the 4, Hugo's Cellar. The 4Q also has $1.49 beer and shrimp cocktails at the bars...

There is a McDonald's at the Plaza a Subway at 4Q along with a pizza place and an ice cream shop. The Fitz also has a McDonald's and a Krispy Kreme donut shop.

If it were me I would stay and do most of my play at the Fitz, if I was a table games player. If video poker is your thing then the Horseshoe is the best, but their rooms are not and you can't get a great view of the strip like you can at the Fitz

All that said I would really look into staying at Main Street Statin, IMHO it's the best all around hotel downtown. MSS is where I stay and play, good VP and they treat you right, I have never paid for a meal there, my rooms are always comped, even 3 and 4 night stays that include weekends. MSS has the best buffet downtown, the best brew club "777" and one of the very best restaurants in all of Las Vegas in an incredible setting "The Pullman Grille"..MSS has antiques and artifacts from all over the world, >part of the Berlin Wall, The Wild Boar(bar) comes from France, Bronze doors and facade from the Royal Bank of Kuwait, the list goes on, they have stuff all over the hotel and casino...I used the Las Vegas Advisor's POV for my first stay, they gave me one night free and two at the casino rate, which for those nights was $35. Since the first stay all my stays have been comped up front.

Have stayed at Fitzgerald's a few times. Nothing fancy. Rooms facing Freemont Street receive a lot of noise if you plan on going to sleep early. Over all, it's not bad. We have stay only at Main Street Station now. The rooms are wonderful, as is the whole atmosphere. And they send promos every month for free rooms!
