Enough has been done for them. Time to move on and stop whining.

If your really intrested. Only half of the 10 billion dollars aloted by Bush has been used. If you can imagine 400 football fields fill with debris 100 feet high, you can get some idea of how much cleanup. Soo much money was spent on survival not rebuilding. the point of survival is complete, but rebilding has just begun and the red tape of politics is bringing rebuilding to a crawl. Just one is those that qualify for 150000 dollars govrenment funds, one-tenth of those have recieved anything and of course the insuarance company's that flat out to pay up, and haveing to be dragged into court. The county's have to come up with 10% of funds for rebuilding but with no citizens there is no tax dollars for the 10%. If you can imagine the equation; cadillacs are 50 cents there is only a quarter in their pockets and a long way from another quarter that just sits there in impossible red tape government funding. This catastorphie is so enormous it's not possilble too write all there is concerning the up-hill battles "individuals" face and face alone while continueing to care for the simple things you and I take for granted. RED TAPE is the Major holdup now.

Just goes to show how inept the government agencies are. Good case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing. Before any funds were released....every applicant should have had proof he/she lived there. And there should not have been free handouts. Those receiving fund should have done so through low interest loans. And what upsets me even more is, those homeowners who paid their insurances...could not get a d@mn dime from them! They were the ones that should have been taken care of first. No arguing if the damage was done by wind or flood. So asinine.
And where were the funds we received from other countries? Why weren't they given to the people instead of our money? So much mismanagement...it's not funny.

Because the government went in and started handing out checks without any system in place or emergency plan set-up to deal with it. So they were giving money to people, and not properly accounting for it. Its the goverments fault- they lost 12 billion in the war but they are more concerned with the Katrina money - that doesn't make sense. Too bad they aren't as concerned with the looting that took place in Iraq.

Get EPA out of the way and let them burn all the trash. For you Bush beater. It was the local government fault for the delay. The federal government can't come in until the local and state government asked for help. That happened two days after the storm.

jizzim is way off base here:

I live in Florida. We are STILL recovering from 3 Hurricanes (including Katrina) that hit my city (and one that skirted past us)..and those storms were nothing compared to Katrina's wrath in LA, MS, FL and TX gulf coast. We too have been forgotten by the Bush admin and left to fend for ourselves.

Move to a better place? Suggestions? Move north to states that burried in snow and people are freezing to death in their homes. Tennessee? NC? SC? NC is #2 in the nation for hurricanes. Tenn. and SC have suffered repeated Tornadoe hits. West coast to wait for the "big one". My point? Just about every state in this country has suffered or will suffer a natural disaster equal to or worse than any hurricane, even if on a smaller scale.

Ask yourself this: how much news coverage do you see about LA , MS, or FL recovery now? Almost none, yet the damage here and there is still unbelievable. When was the last news report you saw about how families in S.FL, MS, LA still live in houses with no roofs or blown out windows. ....yes, we have been forgotten.

Think those places have recovered like MS or LA? Drive down to the gulf coast and get back with me about what you see.

So many people in LA (specifically New Or.) could NOT escape. Many of them had NO money and no way to prepare. Some of them lived paycheck to paycheck. Some had small kids, older family members, and had no way to get out of town--some had no family at all and no-one to help them.

In addition, the State gov't did little to arrange emergency transportation for most of the population...they were mismanaged, dishonest, and unprepared (and still are.)

Has the gov't done enough? No. Bush promised help, but only sent money....but much of the money sent to help has been stolen or waisted. Just ONE case in point: FEMA trailers intended to help people in LA with no homes are STILL sitting empty to this day! How much more time has to pass?

Most money and assistance now is coming from NON-gov't agencies like the Red Cross, private relief agencies, churches and synogogues, and individuals with the means to send and raise money.

My last statement: What have you done to help today?

lol
dont whine about us wasting a few million on people who lost everything
dont say that just because everything they had wasnt worth what we gave them we shouldnt have helped
they deserve whatever they can get for having to wait so long for any help to get there
especially when the government is leaking millions to already rich people
dont sweat it when the people who lost everything get something
sweat it when the people that already have more than they need get that which was meant for those in need

Just one more gross failure of the Bush regime.

How about the fact that his appointee as Ambassador to Iraq, Paul Bremer, can't account for $9 billion?

My own Republican cousin cheated me out of a $50,000.00 inheritance that my mother left me.

This, coupled with the fact that Herbert Hoover (A Republican) brought on the Great Stock Market Crash of 1929, which triggered the Great Depression, has taught me that you just can't trust a Republican with money.

Louisiana is CORRUPT!

If the media were less interested in Bush-bashing, the real story would have been more widely known.

Some are clueless. Mississippi is fine. That state is run by Conservatives. Louisiana is still a mess. That state is run by Liberals.
