This is a real story- not a joke~
Yes several times.
I am a well educated woman. So this may come as a shock.
The first time- I shot a man inside my front door. I was only 12.
We lived in the country and were being robbed and I was the only one awake and got the gun. There were two men on either side of the house (front and back doors) and my parents and brother were asleep. I was in the hallway and could see both doors, I shot one and my dog attacked the other. My dad, butt naked comes running out and I sees the trail of blood and turns on the lights. While I was shotting out his back truck window. I emptied the shotgun into the side of his truck as they drove away. I am quite sure that a little white girl with a shotgun was not what they were expecting.
My mom and dad freaked out- to say the least. We kept the front gate and our home doors locked. No to common at the time.
I on the other hand was really calm. Logical in fact.
That is WHY we have guns, to protect us and to hunt for food.
It served its purpose, they won't be back. Or next time I will aim to kill. That realization was "haunting" to my mother since she didn't know if I was just shooting or aiming. That really upset her, but I told her the truth. Its them or us MOM~ I choose us.
My dad realized that- I was scared and calm and knew exactly what I was doing, by not waking them up first. I saved their lives. The same hunting techniques he had taught me. He had a whole new respect for kids in general.
The sherriff came by the next morning and saw the trail of blood from inside my hallway to the truck and counted all the shells.
He sat me down and told me some things in a very serious tone.
My german shepard got the other man's finger as a prize.
The sherriff was stunned by the nature of violence and more so that it was a little "girly-girl" that did it. Yet, he told my folks that I was brave and smart. He wished it would have been different, but all in all he should be able to find the guys. They DID.
County hospital- two shots, r-leg, r-butt other guy, bites on arm and missing index finger. Both sent to jail for armed robbery, since they did get somethings out of my dad's truck before they came to the house.
So My reality lesson came really early in life- I hate war and gun welding cowards that rob or hurt people because the can!
Since then, GUNS and the laws have been an issue, because people abuse them.
I am a housewife- armed and prepared. I have since used my handgun twice and never fired a shot. Don't let that fool ya, I would in a heartbeat without regret or fear if my family was in danger. Like any animal, it gives a warning, and then it attacks, unless you are the prey- all bets are off then.
We have gunsafes and locks, yet that is nothing more powerful than the "FEAR" of the reality of what a gun can do. I show the kids- the horrible reality of guns-first hand by taking them hunting at a young age.... they are not toys, we don't own any toyguns.
That harsh reality builds a sense of trust and responsibility that modern kids don't have much of these days. Its not a power tool. Its a weapon. TV has made it look cool and easy- neither is the truth.

Yeah, there was this time when I ordered a pizza, and i went to get something to drink and when i came back to get a slice, my girlfriend had already eaten most of it. I had to fight for a slice. It was Live or Die. I just called her fat, and she threw the slice at me. So I found a way out of desperation to survive.

It was called "war" and it was kill or be killed...y'see, the guy in front of my weapon also had a weapon, and he was as scared as I was, and knew that if he didn't kill me, I'd kill him. Well, here I am, years later, writing this reply, so I guess you can tell who won. I suppose it was a win - but I regret like h e l l having to do what I did...
