Sometimes the fastest things on the snow are tea trays and bin liners. Otherwise this company http://www.ukfitnesssupplies.co.uk/mall/departmentpage.cfm/UKFitnessSuppliesLtd/55401/1/1/-/55401/-/-/-/-?gclid=CNPvxtbDnIoCFSNoEAodDx-TfQ will get one to you for tomorrow they claim for £19.99

It is really very easy, but with no diy skills you are going to struggle.

For soft snow, try a strong large rubbish sack, reinforced with a flattened cardboard box. Sit inside the sack, on the cardboard, with feet in the corners. It'll only last a day, but should be fun.

A traditional sledge, with narrow wooden runners, works best when the ground is frozen.

a good old tea tray will work perfectly,

you don't need to faff about making or buying a "proper" one as the snow won't be around long enough to get your moneys worth

(famous last words, we'll now be snowed in till April!!)

from past experience I have found that a regular baking tray of some sort works very well; especially with a bit of polish on the underneath!! ;-)

We use an old baby bath and piece of wood for a seat.
