The way the world is going i don't think there will be a 2044. If so, there will probably be something that will substitute social security, perhaps everything(all a persons info) will be placed in a barcoded chip that will be placed somewhere on your body. That will happen sooner than we think.

I think it will be gone before that.

I am not planning on getting any money from social security when I retire. . . I am putting money into IRA's so I have money when I do retire. My husband and I have also started our daughter a tax-free college fund (if she uses the money for school and school expenses, it will not be taxed by the government when it is taken out. . .), and she is 18 months old. This way, we will be able to use what we can for our support, and our daughter will be able to pay for her college education (or most of it) when the time comes.
