Oh no, it is not wrong at all. When my Grandmother passed away we knew my Grandfather would need someone to take care of him, he is not ill or handicapped just set in his ways and had had a woman take care of him for 55 years. He married his sister-in-law, Grandma's sister, her husband had passed away several years before and she was needing a man to help around her home, so they married. Best thing for both of them and like Granddad said, they were already good friends.

It seems like youve been wanting to hook up with her for a while. after 8 years and she is still alone.. is she ready? I dont think it would be a bad thing after so long.. Just make sure she isnt placing you in his place and seeing you as him! if she is.. then she isnt ready yet

My mother in law hooked up with my deceased father in laws friend years later and they got married and were happy until they died.

Well it is only wrong if you feel that it is wrong. Yes he was your best friend, but he also left a wife who you happen to like a lot... So get busy dating her if she doesn't object..

I'm sure he would want her to be happy. So if you plan on making her happy then no. Think of how he would want her to be treated and treat her that way and it should be a good thing.
