How can I get Permanent Black Marker out of Jeans?

My husband came home last night from work and a Black Marker had busted all over the back of his jeans (he had it in his back pocket..smart move) I don't want to set it in the fabric but need to try to get it out today....it is a good pair of jeans

There's a cleaner called "oops" that removes paint , perm marker, etc... but it will run all over whatever is underneath the fabric... so be sure you place an old towel or something that is thick and can be thrown away underneath the pocket and so that it doesnt bleed through to the other side. It's an aerosal can w/ a red top.
