I would be happy that they took the time and effort to make you a card rather than buy one.

If the only thing you read on your birthday cards are the digits in the price, then I guess you wouldn't be happy.
The thought is what counts and the fact that a friends is willing to take such time and dedication to the craft or the card shows how important you are to them.
The point in giving something is to make sure the person receiving the gift/card knows how much they are loved and cherished. Your friends sent a card which means they are thinking of you. You have not been forgotton.
How would you feel if your friends did NOT send you a card? Ask yourself that.

Flattered that they took the time to think about what they wanted the card to look like, rather than spending 2 minutes picking out a card someone else has ready-made.

I always make my own cards, and i much prefer to recieve hand made ones too.
They give a more personal touch, and show that you have taken time to think about it rather than buying any old card.

So I would be very pleased! :)

I would be very happy that my friend cared enough to remember my birthday and send a letter, store-bought card, hand-made card, or whatever.

I would think they thought alot of me to make one themselves rather than going to a store and purchasing one. They had to put some time and effort into it.

I would feel especially honored. Anyone can buy a card, but only a true friend would take the time to make one for you. It means more!

I prefer they send me the hand made cards. You can imagine the time they spend to make the cards.

I would feel like my friend must really care about me to go through the trouble of making a card him/herself.

I would feel crappy becuase I am pretty sure that I didn't do anything special on thier birthday and all i got them was a gift. But I would remember to thank them very much for being original.
