why exactly did shannen (prue) leave charmed?

she wasn't getting along with the rest of the cast...
"Prue's death was not originally scripted. They just took her out of the show because Shannen Doherty and Alyssa Milano became bitter enemies, and Phoebe was a more popular character. In fact, Shannen Doherty showed up for rehearsal for season four and they told her she was fired.

[Shannon Doherty actually left the show Charmed months before season 4 started, she actually made up her mind about that earlier in December. She left because she thought the work was no longer fulfilling and to quote her, "Theres too much drama on the set, and not enough passion for the work". She did have words with Alyssa Milano backstage and they weren't the best of friends, but according to her, that didnt effect her decision to leave the show.]"

I was wondering the same thing. The only thing that I heard was that she was very hard to work with by going their drunk, fight/ arguing with alyssa milano (Pheobe) all the time, and I guess she was also upset that she was getting less money then milano and she wanted a raise.
That's all the stuff that I heard that she left. If anyone heard or knows anything else. please enlighten us.

Shannon D. wanted to be the number one on the show but she didn't get her wish, because there were three of them. She wanted to be the highest paid from what I heard. She didn't get along with her co stars and when it reached a point where she wasn't gettign what she wanted, she wanted to leave, so they killed her off.

a clash of personalities with allysa milano is what caused shannon doherty to leave charmed. allysa apparentally fired her since she is ex. producer of the show.........its ashame cause they both were really good friends

about 3 years into the show I think. The show "killed" her off and replaced her.
