I will go with SACHIN TENDULKAR. look at his performance recently and say why you would not take him as best. LARA may be best as some say, but, a comparision between these makes it difficult to judge who the real winner is. And, finally, ratings in recent matches will definitely grant SACHIN more chance than LARA to be the best, and the best of all times, in future too.

I think Ricky Ponting is the best player in the world. He has been very prolific for the last 3 years and has now got a test average which is a fraction under 60.
You also take into account his wonderful captaincy, and I think he is the best out there at the moment.
