I hope you like older movies because these outdo most new horror movies, making them seem like a walk in the park. None are comedies, just straight horror with a capital H. You won't be dissapointed...

Man Behind the Sun
Nightmare Concert
City of the Living Dead
The Burning
Touch of Death
The Dark is Death's Friend
Emanuelle's Revenge
Street Trash
Horrifying Experiments of SS Last Days
The Burning Moon
Thriller-A Cruel Picture
Aquarius
Demonia
Inferno in Diretta
Intruder

These may be hard to find.
Try Phantom Video (they have no website)
P.O Box 7301

Bad Taste & Dead Alive are both Peter Jackson movies that are over the top gore and also funny. Blood Diner has alot of gore as does The Evil Dead. Cabin Fever also has some gore and weird parts. Cannibal Holocaust is also got alot of gore for shock value especially if you can find the uncut version because it has animal slaughters along with a rape scene in a jungle by a tribe its almost to much to watch eventhough it staged. Halloween is also scary just for the music as it almost has no blood, along with Black X-Mas which came out long before Halloween.

High Tension was pretty scary and Slither was REALLY gross! I don't think a truly scary movie can show gore overkill. It takes away from the fear factor. Like Hostel for example. That movie was overkill in every way, and it sucked because of it. Truly scary movies like The Exorcist, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, High Tension, the original Halloween, Wolf Creek have their blood and guts, but where they should, only. The "Saw" movies are the only exception to me. These movies are scary and grotesque. Lots of fun!

Also try "Three Extremes". If you want to throw up in your mouth.

As fare as psychologically scary I think that the old 1970's movie called "Don't be afraid of the dark" starring Kim Darby is a good one. I don't know if you can rent it, anymore. But I have seen copies for sale on the net. Its isn't a lame slashed movie but I found it to be damn scary!

The movie that I still remember from many years ago (I'm in my 50's) was "Grisly" It was about a 15' Grisly bear in the mountains. The parts I remember best are as they are trying to locate and kill the grisly, a hunter on horse looks up just in time to watch the grisly decapitate his horse(horse still standing/no head). Grisly claws the hunter, buries him in a shallow grave for a later meal. turns out the hunters not dead, brushes off the dirt, looks around and sees all is clear, looks down at the ground to begin to climb out of his burial site looks up again and there is the grisly. My heart drops as the hunters face reveals all hope gone. The only person that escapes from the bear is one hunter who yell,"JESUS," and dives into a fast moving mountain stream. But if you're not paying close attention you could Miss his calling on JESUS. Thanks for that question, I'm going to see if I can find the DVD. If anybody finds that title please go to my profile and leave me a message. Thank you. Windwalker

Gotta go with the Japanese- all of their horror movies are way gorier than ours. I would go with Audition or Ichi the Killer. Both are directed by Takashi Miike.
If you are truly a sick individual, you may enjoy a Greek film called Singapore Sling. It is directed by Nikos Nikolaidis. I wouldn't say that I would recommend it but if you are looking for gross, it may right up your alley.
Enjoy!!
