This will really depend on how you feel after the baby is born (emotionally) and what kind of baby you have. If you are lucky and get one of those angel babies you might be comfortable leaving the baby as soon as 6 weeks. Angel babies are known for being content most of the time and only waking or fussing to eat or a change of diaper. If you end up with a colicky baby like I did, you might not be comfortable going back to work for a long time (I'm still not back at 4 months). My little guy cries non-stop for 4-5 hours a day and fusses much of the other time. He has never fallen asleep easily, even after a bottle. It has been very stressful and only gets worse if someone else tries to care for him at this point. So...you will really have to wait to see. Your emotions might be out of whack for a while too, so staring a new job might not be a good idea...wait at least 6 weeks either way.

At 36 weeks pregnant a new job should not be on the top of your to-do list. There's nothing wrong with thinking ahead and setting things up for the future but when you get home from the hospital that little baby needs to come first!
Don't be in such a hurry to go back to work, if you have the option of being able to stay home for a while with the baby then you really should. A little baby doesn't need to be in some overcrowded daycare center crying for attention, he belongs at home being cuddled by his mother.
So, in other words, i think being a working mom is great i'm one myself but for a while that baby simply has to come before any job.

It depends more in what situation you're in.
If you really need money(and most do after having a new baby to care for)then look for a new job as soon as possible.
If you're alright financially then stay home with baby a bit longer, nothing can replace that awesome feeling.

I know this from personal experience, my first baby I had, I had to go back to work before she was even a full two weeks old because I was the income source....because of that, now she is 3yrs old and for the first time ever just started calling me mommy a few months ago(she'd usally always call me by my first name). You see, the bond we should of had was affected because she never saw me that much because I was always working to be able to make money to take care of her.

Depends on how well you heal after you have the baby. I would wait until you had the baby and then decide from there. You never know what life is going to throw at you from day to day. Most women I know go back to work after 8-12 weeks after having a baby. You need time to bond and you may find that you really don't want to leave your baby. So, enjoy that special time with your little one if it is possible.

Well I am a stay-at-home mom and my son is 15 months old. I love this time that I have to see him grow, but if you are unable to stay home, I would wait about two months. I think the first couple of months are the most important, so you get to know each other and then you could feel more confident to leave him in someone else's care.

You can start applying now but PLEASE wait to start until AT LEAST your six week follow up. There was a girl at work that went back ONE WEEK after having her baby. She was so exhausted. You need a little time to be with your baby boy. I enjoyed the ten weeks I took off when I had my daughter. It allowed for mommy time for her and allowed me to get back up to full strength before going back to work. Taking this time will also help you because you can get yourself and your son ready for a babysitter. You can get him used to someone else being around and you can get used to leaving him with someone you trust. Of course, you never completely get used to it. All I ask is that you take the time to heal before you start working again. It will be better for you in the long run.

wait until after you have the baby and decide when you want to go back to work! You can always start applying at jobs as soon as you feel up to it (and can find time) and then just let them know you can't start for another month or two or whatever.

It really depends on how you deliver!! If you have him vaginally 6 weeks and a c-section more like 8-12 weeks!! Enjoy your time with your son and if you can stay out of work longer! I love being a stay at home mommy!

most daycare center won't take a baby under 6 weeks old, find a place now and get on their waiting list, look for a job only after you are sure that you are ready to accept it right away
