The reason most tanners go orange is because people apply them straight after they have come out of the shower.

Once you are out of the shower your skin goes alkaline which makes the tanner orange. Wait about half an hr after having a shower before applying.

The first few times you apply will take a long time so prepare for about 40mins.

Smoothing over with moisturiser can help to reduce risk of streaks.

Haven't tried any yet but apparently the spray ones are really good but make sure you have a colour that will match your skin, not too dark.
I personally like Johnson's tanners which gradually build up the tan so it looks more natural and are less likely to have massive streaks.

All tanners have a really streaky and orangey effect but the one that does that the least is Neutragena's sunless tanning, but you can go to your local tanning salon, alot of salons these days offer spray tan which is only like twenty bucks, they spray the tanning supply on yourself and it lasts about 3 weeks.

I have found that the gradual tanners are a lot truer to real tanning. I like the Dove version. It works over 7 days. As long as it is applied properly it looks nice.
