i am wondering because a very good friend of mine is pregnant, its like her miracle because she was never suppose to get pregnant, she has had all kinds of cancer realated problems in her ovaries and cervix. but hasnt had any in over a year, then she finds out she is pregnant which was not suppose to happen so she was thrilled. well she has gone to the dr. a few times and they have estimated that she is (at the time) 6 weeks her hcg levels were kind of low i cant remember the exact number and they werent able to see a heartbeat yet, so her doctor told her to go home stay in bed and basically wait for her miscarriage. she is going back today because its been two weeks and nothing has happened. if they dont see a heart beat today they are going to do a D&C. do you think its possible that maybe they would see one today since she hasnt bled or anything? or do you think they should have seen one two weeks ago? i am just very nervous for her, thanks so much.

This is just my own experience, i dont know if this helps. When i found out i was pregnant its was 3 weeks old. I was bleeding slightly on and off. Went to a doctor to get myself scanned, he confirmed it was a pregnancy but couldnt detect anything in my womb but a white sac that looked pretty ruptured. There was no heartbeat nothing. He advised me to performed D&C quickly which naturally i refused. He reminded me of the danger i am in should i keep the ruptured sac in my womb. I went to a second doctor, she confirmed i was pregnant but unsure why it doesnt show in the scan. By fourth week i went to the third doctor, by then i continued bleeding and i was crying my heart out. This doctor confirmed my pregnancy, but when she gave it a scan, still nothing there, empty. But this is what she told me, she told me to rest and stay at home and come back in my 6-7th weeks. I went there and there it was. So i think they might see the heartbeat if still nothing, ask the doctor if they can wait just a little longer.

Usually you can see the heartbeat at 6 wks. I hope all goes well for her today. Why wasn't the doctor testing her HCG levels every 2 days to see if it was increasing? Praying for her!!

I saw and heard my son's heartbeat for the first time at 5 weeks and 5 days preggo. I had an internal u/s and it detected it. My thoughts are with her that this miracle baby is okay.

the earliest you'd be able to see the heartbeat is 9 weeks. that's when i first saw my daughters. you can listen for a heartbeat at around 6 weeks i think with an intrauterine doppler. check pregnancy.com for more info.
