My son will only drink water & juice from a sippy cup, and it is really frustrating when I give him a sippy cup with milk and he will just take a few sips & throw it on the floor. I don't like to force him but he should be on the sippy cup now without any problems. I hate to give him a bottle because I feel I'm not helping him to progress, but I also can't let him go without milk. So how can I get him off the bottle completely?

The only way is to stop giving it to him. Put them up in a box somewhere out of the house. Don't give in. Put a little bit of chocolate milk or strawberry milk in the sippy and see if that helps. Not a full glass, just give it a different taste. As long as you are feeding him other things that are dairy, him not drinking milk all the time will be ok. Give him yogurt, cheese, anything dairy throughout the day. Cereal for breakfast, which of course has milk, teach him to drink it out of the bowl....there are so many creative ways to get kids to do things. Just think like a kid for awhile.

You go cold turkey. I know it sounds cruel. Don't let him have juice from it only milk. After a few days he will drink the milk. He is testing you. He knows if he throws the fits you will give him the bottle. You can help yourself not feel so bad by making sure he is getting his dairy from cheese, yogurt (they make a yo baby kind that is made from whole milk), cottage cheese, ice cream, and such. Give him those instead and he can go without the milk. When he realizes that you aren't going to give the bottle, he will drink it from the cup. Mine all did. I have 3. My youngest was the most stubborn and waited 1 week. She did eat all the other options and the peditrition said she would be fine. It is one year later, and she is.

I let my kids have their bottle until they were almost 2yrs.
If your ready for your child to get off the bottle.....It may be frustrating...........just throw all bottles in the garbage and deal with the tantrums for a while.

**A healthy child won't starve themself at that age. They will eventually take what you are giving them in whatever container you choose**

TIP--Maybe use a different sippy cup for juice than you use for the milk. Even after washing the mixture of juice and milk may give the milk a bad taste for the little guy.

I used different bottles for juice and milk as well.

All children reach different milestones at different times. My step daughter used a bottle until she was 3 1/2, while my daughter was through with hers at 2. My son is almost 2 1/2 and has the same reaction to milk in anything but his baba.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, nor would I be too forceful about his making the change. He will decide when the time is right for him. Meanwhile, hang in there.

Have you tried a different sippy cup with a different type of lid to it.
My youngest has one sort of sippy cup for milk and a different one for milk, we started doing it this way since she was a year old and it has worked really well. Maybe he needs a faster/slower flow for his milk.

Sounds like the beginning of terrible two's.Try a cup that has his favorite character like Blue's clues, Dora etc. and encourage him to use it. never use force, because he would continue to fuse. besides he 's your little man and he's still learning Be patient he'll drink his milk from it
good luck

Just keep offering the cup. If he wants it bad enough he will eventually start using it.

You could try flavoring his milk with a little chocolate syrup. We did this with our 18 month old and it worked.
