Will people go to the Moon as tourists in 18 Years?

Probably not.

Take a hard look at most folks observing the Moon. They look at it for maybe a minute, or two, and walk away. Using a telescope they may look at it for 15 to 30 minutes. Then they walk away.
There is nothing exciting going on there. It is just a huge, dead rocky mass in the sky.

Tourists should be prepared to live in a closet like space for 30 - 60 - 90 days nonstop. They should be prepared to do everyting they have to do inside that closet (including that).

There are no fancy restaurants.
There are no clubs.
There are no fishing spots.
There are no sun bathing beaches.
There are no sports car races to attend.
There would be no company dropping by for a party.
Every single minute of every single day would have
been planned out in advance - no changes accepted.

There is no air on the moon.
There is no water on the moon.
There is no vegetation on the moon.
There is no life on the moon.

I don't think so.

I think you will see sub-orbital flights with tourists aboard by 2025. And I don't mean one or two a year. I think it will be an option available to and affordable by about the top 10% of wage earners in the US.

Moon tourism is a bit farther away. I think you will see it starting to happen around 2060 or so with the availability and affordability not being significant until after 2100 or even later. One thing is for sure, at my age I will never see it.

I think it will be real close. I'll be amazed if it goes beyond 2030. Look what a free economy has done for electronics. The MP3 I just bought has more memory than my first PC. That was 18 years ago. If you apply the same acceleration we could have a resort on the moon by your target date.

Definintly. By then, we'll probably have buildings on the moon, and a big bubble which would be filled with oxygen and gravity and there would be places to eat. That would be cool, huh?

Probably not. It is ridiculously expensive and dangerous and there is nothing to do there. You'd be better off going to another barren wasteland, like Birmingham.

It will never happen that quickly. We'll be lucky if we have test pilots doing that.
