What I mean is : is it ok to take a year off before writting my engineering entrance exams(AIEEE, IIT-JEE, Kerala state..etc..)
(This question is for answering from within India).

There is nothing wrong in taking a year off but that is definitely not advisable as 1) you will be losing one full year 2) you may get bored to take studies again 3) the job prospects may delay by another year, though it is your choice to take one year I would suggest you to continue unless you want the break that is really urgent, coz it would be sooner by one year than take a break and slog again.

I think if you go ahead with hard working and determination and all of above by praying to get grace of Almighty GOD,
You should have not to miss your one year.

Some employers do not like a gap in education.

i think that if you decide to take a year, you need to make sure that you have everything planned out because at this age we change everyday so make sure you know exactly what you are going to do by writing it out.
