There are several books you can buy at border's or barnes and nobles or davis-kidd. I suggest buying the Kaplan program/CD-Rom and the Kaplan Book which contains 12 practice tests with explanations. I would also suggest buying the Princeton Review book which has about 9-10 practice tests with explanations. Also, buy the Barron's Book SAT 2400 which explains how to solve the harder problems on the SAT so you can make a better score. Go to collegeboard.com or buy the book if you want [though I don't recommand it] and check out the stuff on there.

Buy about 1-2 books dealing with vocabulary [though you need to start studying those at least 6 months before actually taking the SAT] because vocab is crucially important on the SAT Critical reading section and can also be used on the Writing Section. Some vocab books would be the Kaplan's Vocab and Vocab Rock which includes a CD with catchy upbeat songs that help you get vocab stuck in your head. Make flash cards for these if you need to.

There are several programs online if you want to try them such as Alexis's which my friend did, but I don't believe those programs work that well since my friend only made a 1700. Your school should offer SAT prep courses and if they dont, go to a special prep course if you are really serious.

If you are having problems with the Critical Reading and Writing sections I would suggest buying the book Grammar in Plain English and I would also suggest you start reading National Geographic and The New York Times. You will learn without realizing you are learning.

I hope this all helps!

the two most widely used are published by Kaplan test prep and princeton review, I would do a search on textbook411.com , its a good resource for test prep stuff and you might even be able to pick up a used copy for chap- good luck
