4 is D and since someone else said the wrong answer, here is proof: white light falls on a red object, the object appears red because its surface subtracts (absorbs) all colors of light except red taken from cybercollege.com

If you can figure out what is wrong with what ginabgood said, then you will have learnt a lot about colour. This is better for you than just repeating the answers other people provide.
