I am 6 months pregnant and I have noticed that my breasts have started to leak. It's like a clear liquid. What is this? This is my first pregnancy so I don't really know much about this stuff.

Sounds like you're getting your colostrum already. Normal. Your breasts are getting ready for their new job as a milk factory. :-) Colostrum is the first milk that is super packed with nutrients and acts as baby's first immunization. Many moms begin to leak colostrum while still PG. It's totally normal to start leaking colostrum.....but it's also totally normal to not leak! Either mom can successfully nurse her baby after the birth.

A lot of women begin to leak while pregnant, while others don't until after baby is born. I started leaking around my 5-6 months too with my first pregnancy. Now pregnant with second i'll be 8 months tomorrow and i started leaking 2 days ago. Go buy you some breast pads, they have different kinds that you can choose from. Don't worry it doesn't do it all the time, at least not until you start breast feeding the baby. Mine stopped since the other day but i still ran out and bought pads just in case.

That is called colostrum- it's almost like an oily substance. This is the 'good stuff' as they call because it is the healthiest stuff you can give your baby while waiting for your milk to come in. Sometimes after a warm shower it will leak out. What ever you do, DO NOT squeeze your nipples to force it out, it can cause permanent damage or an infection. If it becomes a problem, just buy some breast pads!

Fluid can leak from your breasts throughout pregnancy. This fluid, called colostrum, is clear and tastes sweet. It is also called “pre-milk” and is your baby’s first nutrients if you decide to nurse. Your actual breast milk won’t come in until a day or two after your baby is born.

I found this on a site called smartmomma
but I also read this in books and was also told this by my doctor so its pretty full proof ;)
good luck with everything
hope this helped u out

Perfectly normal! It's called colostrum and is extremely nutrient rich. If you aren't able to breastfeed, the doctors tell you to at least try to give your baby a couple of days of colostrum as it helps to build their immune systems up after birth. It can start leaking from very early in the pregnancy. Mine had an orange tinge to it once. Was odd but apparently normal! Good luck!

Completely normal! Mine are leaking too! At first i didn't know what it was either. It is packed with nutrients that your baby needs. If it leaks a good bit during the day where you can see it on the outside of your clothes i recommend you get the breast pads. Mine aren't that bad they only leak at night when I am sleeping.

That is the colostrum, also known as first milk. Its perfectly normal to leak this, or even to not leak it, from your breasts. Its high in carbohydrates, proteins, and most especially antibodies. This is baby's first food (if you are breast-feeding) until your actual milk comes in (which should happen between one and five days after birth).

Hate to say this, but you may continue to leak colostrum even years after your children are weaned. If it creates embarassing wet spots on your shirts, you can generally buy breast pads that you wear inside your bra...usually in the same place you buy other feeding supplies (formula, bottles, and breast pumps.)

Hi, this is completely normal. This is right around the time when you are going to start producing your milk and at first it comes out clear and then within a month it will start coming out whitish clear. It isn't going to be completely white. I hope this helped you somewhat. Congradulations!!
