Dutch is a West Germanic language. It is spoken in several countries. All Germanic languages are part of the Indo-Germanic languages.

The Dutch language has changed dramatically over the years, in both pronunciation and vocabulary. One of the most striking differences with other Germanic languages (like German and English) is the pronunciation of the 'g' and 'ch'.

Although most Dutch speaking people in Europe pronounce this the same as in the UK and Germany, relatively soft sounding; the official Dutch pronunciation is a very hard, (like in Spain) pronunciation of these letters.

I have added some links about our language and other Germanic languages.
