We all get on really good and the kids all respect the adults . There are four sets of stairs in the building and we used to pay some one to clean the steps but he doesn't do them any more the old guy up stairs has been doing them for a while and i also do them to my knowledge we are the only two to do them but this morning while washing down the stairs the guy next door was a bit annoyed that i was doing then and he said that he would do them, but i said no he's been here about 6 years and has done them once he says we need a rota to do them but i don't want to tell the others what to do
Any ideas.

Good idea, someone may move and the new people may not quite fit in and resentment could build up they are not taking the turn of doing the stairs. Why not call a little informal meeting of everyone in the building, in your home if you don't mind. Give them tea, coffee or glass of wine, ask opinions and see where you go from there. Probably a rota or finding a new person to do the stairs will be the answer from most.

sort it out! just get together and either pay a new person or the old guy or get them to pay you to do it or draw up a rota. Or just have dirty stairs like normal people.

you don't need a rota, just do them when they need doing, if he is happy doing them then let him....
