1. "Castaway." He virtually carried the entire movie, since it was just him on the screen in most of it.
2. "Saving Private Ryan." You really believed him when he did this role.
3. "Forrest Gump." Hanks managed to play a person of low IQ in a realistic, sensitive, and accurate way. Again, he carried the whole movie.

By Far, the best Tom Hanks movie is Joe vs. the Volcano. I mean Abe Vigoda as an Orange Crush drinking tropical island native chief named Toby. I doesn't get any better than that.
