Because she is a threat to win to beat their candidates for the 2008 Presidency.
With roughly 50% of the people in the United States women; and with women having an extra incentive to vote, with one of their sex finally under consideration for the head executive office; Hillary Clinton has a viable chance of obtaining a majority of votes.
Since she is not a gay hippocrit, unlike many Republican politicians; she does not make racial, sexual, or other politically incorrect statements, unlike many Repugnicans politicians; and she is acknowledged as being very intelligent, unlike the incumbant chief executive; the only way of disparaging her is to attack her the way the answerers above have: lesbian, carpetbagger, inconsistant, et al.
Yet, by virtue of being in the White House for 8 years, and being a U.S. Senator, she has more experience as a leader than any of the Repugnicans who will probably run against her.
And, having Bill back in the White House, even as the "First Gentleman" is a Repugnican's worst nightmare.

I'm Conservative, I love her running for President, if she gets the nomination the Democrats have effectively shot themselves in the foot... Hillary doesn't have a skeleton in her closet, she has an entire graveyard, she'll get crushed on Nov 2...
What's funny is when I hear lots of moderate women fence sitters that would vote either way say they just don't like Hillary because she's a phony...

I think that it mainly has to do with her behavior, her personal beliefs, and her personal life. She is a strong, aggressive woman, and many (not all) conservatives are uncomfortable with women who don't behave in a stereotypically feminine manner, especially if they're politically liberal. Also, she is a pro-choice feminist, and that alone rubs religious conservatives the wrong way. And as we've already seen, a lot of conservatives still harbor bad feelings towards Clinton, even though he's been out of office for almost a decade now. Many conservatives associate Hillary with her husband's political scandals (especially the ones regarding his private life). Why else would they still be bringing up his sex life?

"Special" is not a word I would use. I personally lost all respect for Hillary Clinton years ago. Over her health plan (remember she wasn't elected then), over the way she handled the entire Monica/Bill adventure, etc. She made herself a doormat for her husband, because she had an agenda. Let me put it this way, I raised three daughters and I would never hold her up to them as a role model.

Because she is electable.
If you want the democrats to lose the election, you have to develop a special hate for a candidate that can win it for them.

We don't hate her. We're just concerned about her flip-flopping to gain favor at Voting Time. Ones who speak with Forked- Tongues. should be looked down upon.

She's a poll sitter. Wait to see the results of a poll, then base your decision on the results.

We can see right through her power-mongering ways! There are items like Vince Foster/whitewater and we simply don't believe she is innocent in all that. She is also soooooo intolerant and nasty in her intolerance.
