Also, why do people seem to assume that education = maturity or even intelligence. I've seen many an educated person who severely lacks critical thinking skills. I call them the uneducated educated.

I very much think so, yes. If a person does something wrong, they should be punished no matter how much money they make or who they are. And in answer to your add on, I completely agree - some of the claimed smartest people have the most problems.

This is typical of the "feeding frenzy" that occurs if someone in any position of notoriety is arrested or accused of wrongdoing. I've read this story within minutes of it hitting the news wires.

I don't believe if a regular unknown person were to have done this that it would have become front page news if it were reported in the media at all i'd be very surprized.

But this is the way the world is today. I don't like it and no one will find me looking for every piece of dirt that is publicized on this issue with the astronaut. I read the intitial report one time and won't revisit other stories about this issue. I'll mute the TV or radio if i hear anything about it also.

The astronaut who tried to kill her love rival has been all over the news here in AUSTRALIA! I don't really care, I would like to hear about news here, not over in the US!

Yeah, but instead of coming across as kind of a "zany" event, I think the reporting would take on a much darker tone.
