Is this most likely a spam, virus, or AOL issue? I have had no problems with AOL email for years, and this is a sudden change. I tried downloading the newest software, but the problem stayed. Thanks for your thoughts on the issue.

Also, old versions of AOL still work fine and show the email.

If you or anyone else who used your computer did not change any settings, or download any new software, it should work as before.
If you go to another computer and access your AOL account properly, then you will know it is malware (virus, trojan horse, spyware, adware, back door, remote control, remote access, etc)
If you are using Outlook or Outlook Express do not be suprised if you are hacked into, because all Microsoft products are targets of hackers, and these are some of the most vulnerable. Dump Outlook or OE if possible. AOL, like Microsoft, is also "hacker friendly". Best would be to get Kubuntu or other Linux product and say good bye to malware forever.

most of the inbox message will be re-direct to junk box, if there no messages in inbox check junl box it will there

Sometimes mine just freezes up, restart your modem if you can and computer and it should un freeze and work properly.
