If you have Broadband Internet, unplug both the cable modem and the wireless router. When the power comes back on, plug the modem back in first and wait a minute or so for it to initialize. Them plug the power back into your router.

If you turn off the electricity, naturally like every other electrical item in your home, it will turn off your wireless...
And naturally when you turn the power back on, it will come back on.
It will not harm your wireless at all.
If you have any desktop computers, shut them down before turning off your power.

You will lose your internet connection. When you power back up again, your wireless box should retain all the passwords/usernames etc and you can reconnect with no problems. It might be worth checking you have them written down just in case!

Gee, I guess you are asking if you can power off the router. Yes, you can power off the router by unplugging it. Shut the computer off properly, tho, by clicking shutdown. Powering off the router or cable modem will not damage them, but it will take a few minutes for them to power back on again and be working.
