I Have an 87 chevy S-10 blazer 2.8 v-6 w/T.B.I. Fuel injection. Are there any reference materials or diagrams that can be viewed online, rather than having to buy a book or something? Also can the A.I.R. pump be eliminated and if so how much smaller a belt will be required?

Chevy had a vacuum diagram right under the hood either on the underside of the hood or on the radiator cowel. If it has been removed then Chilton's has diagrams in most of their books for vacuum lines.
Yes, they need to be properly placed and NO, do not remove the air pump because inspection stations now check to make sure they are on the vehicle and operational. It is also a federal crime and state crime to remove, disconnect, or render inoperatible ANY component of an air polution system!

Removing the air pump is OK if your state doesn't require pollution checks at the inspection. The pump doesn't use that much HP. If it has gone bad then you can remove it.
To figure out how long a belt you need get a string and run it around the new path. Measure the string. then take the old belt to a shop and by "thinking" and using the old part number you can get a belt that will fit. Remember to take off about 2" for the tensioner. This may take two trips to the store. Or just buy 2 belts close to the length then when one has about 1/4 to 1/2" play that is the belt you want. Remeber that belt Number for future reference

Federal law prohibits modification of any emissions item on your vehicle. The air pump is part of the emissions controls.

Having said that, many air pumps are removed, and no-one goes to jail! If yours is worling (not frozen up) it's best to leave it alone.

To locate the vaccuum lines, look for the VECI label under your hood. It will show the routing. If that is missing, AutoZone or one of the other chains may be able to pull up a diagram for you through AllData.

Here's a link to a scan of my hose diagram ordered through GM. I have the same vehicle.
