I think when they installed an upgrade on a pc, and then you purchase it.. Either
A you have the upgrade CD only.
or B, they keep the upgrade CD and it costs you less for the laptop.

You should know whether or not you got the cd, because you bought the computer.

The people who build it, probably used a CD. Usually companies have 1 or 2 cds, but they have purchased hundreds of keycodes so they can use the same CDs on multiple computers, but each computer has its own licsensing, which is perfectly legal.

Most manufacturers will send u the CD, Vista is too big to download stabily and would cost far too much money to do.

You should not upgrad to Vista. It will haunt you. Mark my words.
Get a Mac if you want it to run good.

itll be loaded at the factory, you may or may not get the actual cd
