He is a great guy and he hasn't done this thing before. He ahs been going through a lot of emotional things and his parents have been trying to help him, but they don't know about the drug and alcohol. He is my best friend and his parents love me. Should I tell them? The boy is 18 and could leave if he wanted to.

tell his parents about the drugs and alcohol use. You not telling is killing him slowly. As a friend you should tell his parents. He will be mad but you are saving his life and you only get one of them.

I believe you should tell,, by doing so you're helping
your friend and his parents as well .
You friend may not like the idea, but at the end..
he will appreciate you more.
You don't wait till it's too late.. the earlier the better,
he's only 18,, too young. he can ruin his life and his
love one's too.
But if you tell make it looks like you've got nothing
to do with it..just talk to his parents.. that's the right
thing, when things gets worst,, you still will tell anyway,,
so do it now.. because you care..

By all means tell his parents, may be you will be doing him a favor. Now you need to talk to your friend, tell him he needs to deal with his problems, that the drugs and alcohol, is only going to create more problems, and he can't deal with the problems, he has, so why add another problem to it.

tell them, and then call dr. phil or whoever!!!! you have to tell someone, before he destroys his life!! good luck. :)
