You shouldn't encounter problems. Just go through the Windows control panel, add/remove programs and it will uninstall.

However, you may want to consider sticking with OpenOffice because
1. it's free
2. compatible with Word (You can save openoffice document in Word format, and open Word docs with Open Office)
3. Has native PDF support so all you have to do is click a button and your document is in a PDF format

Congratulations on making a great choice (Open Office is superior to MS Office) You wont have any problems with open office that you dont already have with your computer. In fact, it is better and more secure than Microsoft Office.
To install, just download it and say "OPEN" and follow the directions. Toward the end of the installation Check ALL the boxes, as that will allow open office to open all documents!
