I've lived in Greece in 1990/91, when I taught English in a frontistirio in Ampelokipi (Athens) and caught one of the coldest winters in Greece's history and then in a horrible restaurant in the nice island of Samos just for a little while. I've visited Greece like maybe three times ever since but I'd go there much more often if only I could. Speaking of known places and apart from Athens, I've visited places (some more than once) such as Delphi, Corynth, Olympia, the Epidavros, Nafplio, Tirynth, the Meteora, Crete, Samos, Mykonos (not my favorite except for the nice main town, albeit expensive), Marathonas and a lot more. I've left some friends in Greece and I consider Greece as my second country. So, there you are, in spite of its problems (of which I'm well aware, as is also the case with every country), I love Greece.

I plan to go for my 8th trip this summer. My first trip I was told .go with an open mind, breathe the life of a Greek and enjoy....I did and it is now in my soul. The people are kind, warm, friendly....they love to hear you try to say their words, they laugh, sing and visit with such warmness....need I say more?
I have visited up in Halkidiki area for the beaches, use Athens at friends house as my base, been to Naufplio (not far), to Galata and take the water taxi to Poros, and then seen some smaller day trip islands out from Poros. I have never found anything I did not love in Greece......just leave home behind and live the life of a Greek and you too will enjoy...

i left my country 16 years ago married a greek and now this is my home. Greece is one big holiday any time is party time and there is always something to celebrate. the country has the most beautiful islands, beaches and not to mention a lot of ancient sites to visit. the weather is not that bad but we do get extremely hot days in summer but then there is the sea to cool you off. the food is amazing and the night life is good.

I love greece. Lots and lots and lots of little island, lots of very touristy bits but still lovely places to be found. Beautiful blue sea, fantastic food and fabulous sunshine. I would recommend Zyknthos, Rhodes and Crete, but not Kos.
