Of course many teams have all this number of players but what matters is being able to make the first team eg. I can't remember when Man U played with more than 5 england... Most of those players sometimes they don't even make the bench so that's not patriotism but clubs do buy players to deliver whatever they're bought for which is why you would never see players like Richardson, Bardsley, Eagles start in a game against Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool because they are not good enough for that.

Thanx!

No i actually think that City could get away with it too, but there would be mostly academy players - although thinking about it can't be any worse than saturdays performance.

Weaver, Richards, Barton, Onuha, Miller, Sturridge, Jordan. 2 of them in the current England squad 4 of them have presented there country at U21 level.

However i'm not really that bothered where they come from so long as they are good - but thats probably cos we have the worst strike force in the premiership.

I would however like the premiership to promote players from the home countries - because lets be honest the national teams in Great Britain aren't exactely setting the world alight with perfomances and don't look like winning anything in the near future.

Arsenal could field:
Lee Butcher
Justin Hoyte Ryan Garry Paul Rodgers Gavin Hoyte
Henri Lansbury Jay Simpson James Dunne Kieran Gibbs
Theo Walcott Marc Elston

Admittedly they're all youth players, but considering our reserves gave Liverpool and Spurs a beating, I reckon they'll be able to hold their own.

BTW, I saw Boro's 11 englishmen play fulham last match of last season, and it was boring as heck, and that's exactly how that Man utd team would be without the likes of Ronaldo and Giggs

Too right! Im a huge United fan and was absolutely disgusted to see that Arsenal didnt field one English player at all during our match with them recently and from my reckoning the only recognisable English player they have is Theo Walcott. This needs to be stopped and a new rule enforced to have a minimum number in the squad at all times.
Ive found that Charlton can - GK – Scott Carson, Def – Nathan Ashton, Def – Jonathan Fortune, Def – Ben Thatcher, Def – Luke Young, Mid – Darren Ambrose, Mid – Matt Holland, Mid – Bryan Hughes, Mid – Lloyd Sam, Striker – Darren Bent, Striker – Marcus Bent, but as for the others its quite shocking.

Steve Gibson - Middlesbrough's owner has a plan to field 11 English players in his team, the 11 players all being born within 30 miles of Middlesbrough. Not a bad goal and he allready has several regular Boro born and breed 1st team players.

Surely the big point is that in order to name that side you had to dig at least four names out of the reserves...and the whole reason they are reserve players in the first place is because there are better players keeping them out of United's first team....ALL of whom aren't English.

edit; wow, a United fan who's not from Manchester? How unusual.....;)

Would you really want chris eagles in your side?.. i wouldnt

But you do have a point in the premiership but not in the lower divisions.

As an Arsenal fan i wish we could do the same with having more English players... but its not up to me

i think you should try giving that team a run out for the last 4 or 5 games of the season just to see how "CAPABLE" they would be of bring the title back to old trafford. do you think it would be a success?
