i am a eea national and iwould like to know am i legally allowed to work more than 20 hours a week or is the 20 houre limit just a reccommendation

It's not illegal. If you're a fulltime student you shouldn't work more than 20 hours a week. The recommendation is full time student, 20 hour work-weeks. If you're a parttime student, then 40 hour workweeks.

If your employeer is making you work more than the twenty hours. You'll need to make sure they know you're a college student and can't work any more than that. College is your prioroty. Though some employeers won't take note. I've seen employers make students work when they had class, then it is illegal.
