Chopper or Sports Bike?

What would you prefer and why.....

I have both, lucky me. Other than the fact that they both have 2 wheels, they are like chalk and cheese. Depends on the weather, the mood I'm in, where I'm going, etc etc what bike i use. Just don't expect a chopper to behave in any way like a sports bike. Oh and by the way, car drivers don't give a **** what u have, they still pull out in front of u. ( sports have better brakes).

Neither ......and I have ridden both. The chopper is fine if you're riding for a short distance in a straight line. A chopper handles like *hit in curves. If you do lots of distance riding or riding curving roads the chopper isn't for you. The Sport Bike is great for the track. (That's what they were orignally designed for RACING)....What use is a motorcycle that will do 0 to 60 at Porsche speeds.....when you can't ride it the way it was meant to be ridden without breaking the law? Its like my cousin said...he goes out and rides his for an hour.....then hides it in the garage under a tarp for a month until the cops stop looking for it.

I prefer the cruiser myself. You can ride the crap out of it without breaking the law and we have done 750 miles a day on ours. The people who say a cruiser is too heavy have never ridden one....or are kinda wimpy. When a motorcycle is rolling...they all feel the same....they have no weight. My wife is 5'-2" ...maybe 120lbs soaking wet and she rides a Yamaha V-Star 1100 and she CAN and HAS picked it up.

Sports for sure. Cruisers are for old guys and women. I would go with an ST1300 or some other sport tour before I spent money on a cruiser or chopper.

Choppers look nice from 10 feet away, but they are for looking at not riding. I like to ride more than make noise on flashy two wheeled jewelry. If you do have a custom chopper I would recommend getting a trail vehicle whenever you ride.

Chopper. I agree with a previous poster that sport bikes look identical and terrible. The only one that looks good to me is the ducati monsters with the ladder style frame.

Due to a previous knee injury, I cant ride a sport bike because of the seating position. But on a chopper, I can ride for 400 miles in a day without pain.

Its question of personal taste. Ive had choppers, sports bikes, muscle bikes, old Italian, Japanese and have found that each in its own way brings a different pleasure. I get just as much pleasure pottering round on my 25 year old Guzzi as i do hammering round on my Zrx. Best thing is to try a few different styles and see what feels right for you.

Sport bikes are fun, but there really isn't any place you can ride them like they should be ridden (legally) except a track. Don't be one of those jerks who gets one and then puts everyone else's life in danger by acting like a a-hole on public streets. They give every other biker a bad name.

Choppers are nice, but don't get too extreme with one. The trend may fade in a few years and you will be left with a bike that seems too dated. You normally can't beat them for comfort and for cruising with your babe.

OHHH, you don't wanna ride one of then chrome and painted up circus wagon Harleys, come on now, you gonna wear a clown suit too, and ride it around in parades handing out candy to the kiddies, too?? Clown face with a leather jacket, sharp, real sharp. Pull around a steam Calliope too, playing circus music. Just HOW are you supposed to ride them things any distance? A: No one does, one bar to the next, yee hah, sounds like a great time. Just get a Beemr or a sport bike, a Ducati or something. Maybe even one of them Triumphs. That forward control/leaned back/ape hanger look, that kills yer back. Lean FORWARD and it's a much more natural position, you can drain the tank no problem like that. OH and the HD guys have to realize that I mean a TANK, 5-6 gallons, not these puny things they call tanks on hogs, much less those things choppers have, heh my KIDNEYS hold more than some of those tanks. You wanna RIDE or just sputter around town?

Sport bike, no contest. I just don't get choppers. They might be pretty, but .... then why not buy a good bike and hang a picture of a chopper on the wall?

I'm not putting them down, I just don't get them. If other people like them, great!

Choppers are for me, build to your own specs and enjoy. I like sport bikes also but find them uncomfortable to ride. They both have advantages and disadvantages.
