They say white people can't dance. Well, I can't, but I know some who can. Irregardless, a good majority can't, so it is mostly true. I think there is some truth to all stereotypes. Do you agree?

There is some truth to stereotypes, but the way bring it about it's like just throwing it in your face and looking at you laughing. It's a difference between sharing stereotypes with people and just blurting them out to be offensive. I'm black and I can't dance, but I love chicken which is a stereotype mostly true about black people. Hispanics and Asians have great hair, it can get wet, dirty, and it's still manageable without chemicals that black and white people use on their hair. I have long hair, because black people are also stereotyped for not having long or the best hair, we always wear weaves, and extensions. That's somewhat true. I get mistaken for a Puerto Rican or Dominican or mixed, then when I tell people I'm black, they'll say "You have long hair." The whole thing doesn't bother me to discuss, just some people don't know how to word or come off with stereotypes without offending others.

The problem with stereotypes are that they are an all-inclusive things. Stereotypes say that all members of whatever group have such and so characteristic.

Ok, take the stereotype of White people cannot dance. You cannot dance. However, what about all of the White people who CAN dance?

Stereotypes also include much more harmful things than just not being able to dance. Due to people believing stereotypes, wars are faught, people are beaten and killed, genocide has occurred.

There is truth to many stereotpyes. However, it is that "all" stipulation that makes them inaccurate.

The problem with stereotypes is when people assume that since someone belongs to one group, that they fit the stereotype for that group.

Who says white people can't dance? Have they seen Justin Timberlake?

I'm mostly black, I can't dance, I'm not ghetto... I don't like or listen to rap or R&B, I'm not on welfare, don't have a bunch of kids by different men, don't use slang or "ebonics"... hmmm.... since I don't fit into any of the stereotypical attributes of the black race, where do I fit in? lol

No.

stereotypes are STUPID!

Its a generalization that very dumb and ignorant people try to impose on an entire group of people.

PS: speaking of your white people can't dance stereotype... I guess you just happen to have two left feet! Cause tons of my white friends are good in ballroom dancing, scottich tap dance ( river dance) and ballet.

Not the answer you were expecting right?

Grow up.
