Well I can't speak for anyone else but I, as a gay man, thought it was funny as hell. To me it spoke to the hysteria that men have about being "too" close.
Just my opinion but I think everyone needs to relax, including the straight crowd who a also freaked. Some have even posted messages saying they won't buy snickers anymore because it's pro-gay.
All in all it just proves: you just can't please anybody.

It's a stupid commercial reinforcing a stupid ideal of masculinity - that straight men don't kiss, and if they do it's "not manly". They're basically saying gay men aren't real men because they do kiss - and the guys in the commercial are afraid of being seen as anything unmanly, so they'll rip out their own chest hair.
It also implies that men kissing, even just the accidental act, will somehow make them gay or unmasculine. Even if they identify as straight, somehow that one kiss will start to turn them into effeminate men (read: gay men).
The whole idea around it carries underlining homophobia and sexism. It's an old, tired idea that I hate seeing reinforced in the media. They act like two men kissing is horrible - and it's not, whether they're gay or straight. It just reinforces the idea that straight men have to be emotionally and physically reserved, stoic, and unemotional. And that gay men kiss each other, and that's wrong, so they freak out and have to reassert their manliness.
I could pull off a better commercial than that crap. I don't think it's terribly offensive, personally, as much as it's just dumb.

I'm a marketing guy so I have paid a lot of attention to this ad(yes that is the correct abbreviation....not add).
The people who have voiced displeasure have been all conservative straight guys.
Where have you seen an organized, or widespread gay outcry?

On the ad that was shown, the two guys accidentally kiss, and then "do something manly" by ripping their chest hair.
On the website there were 3 alternate endings, including one where doing "something manly" was to attack each other (it was called "wrench" because one guys hits the other with a wrench). This seems to be making light of gay-bashing.
They took that part of the web site down.

No clue. Snickers didn't make a statement on homosexuality, just heterosexuality.

Personally I thought the ad was poking fun at heterosexual stereotypes and misconceptions of homosexuality, rather than homosexuality.
