I don't know bristol I'm afraid...but is there any where you could go for a nice romantic walk? I know its cold but perhaps you could take a picnic and a bottle of wine and sit and look at the stars or gaze into each others eyes?! What about a candle lit dinner at home? We couldn't go out on new years eve as we had no baby sitter so we dressed up in our best gear and had a really romantic four course dinner at home with candles and music. You don't have to spend alot of money to make it special.

Go down the Naval Volenteer in King Street and get absolutely blattered on draught bass and then go to Giovannies pizzeria (if its still there).
This was the kind of romance filled evening I indulged in in Bristol in the mid 80's. No wonder she left me!
I just go on my own now!

The 99p McDkrap may not fancy you, but something similar may. Any take away and a quiet evening maybe watching a romantic movie might do. Otherwise if the budget can handle it, cinema and eating at a not posh place.
I hope this or someone's suggestion helps. It is terribly difficult when skint or nearly so.
