I lost alot of blood after the birth for 2 weeks and then after 4 it stopped totally. in first week i had to be readmitted to hospital with a womb infection where i stayed 3 days. Well now i have started bleeding again, its not lots but i need to wear a pad anyway i dont have any pains and now the bleedin stopped im losing discharge. Im unsure if this is my first period, but usually mine are horrificaly heavy and painful but its obviously been a while and i dont know what to expect fom my first ones after giving birth. /i really want to know as i want to try straight away for another baby. Any advice?

Im not breast feeding and my doctor said theres no real reason not to try for a baby now she told me to just not go back on the ill obviously, and that was two weeks ago. she also said they advise 6 weeks before having sex but realistically most women dont wait they do it when they feel ready. And no i dont have an infection.

Sounds like residual bleeding fromyour birth. Please watch for any further symptoms of infection such as a bad odour, fever, pain or green/yellow discharge & have them checked out immediately. It is unlikely that you would have a period at 5 weeks post partum, especially if you are exclusively breastfeeding, however it is not unheard of. Give it a day or two & if it gets heavier or continues then go to your doctor.

most doctors say not to have sex for the first six weeks after giving birth. Also its not best to try right away because your body still needs time to heal and get back to normal and get its self ready to be able to carry another child. usually doctors will say to atleast wait three months after a miscarriage and birth befor you start trying againg but this is really something you should discuss with your ob/gyn

After giving birth your body takes a while to adjust so you might find periods take a while to go back to normal. Your periods might also change so you don't get heavy ones any more. Let nature take its course and it will happen.

With those types of complications, I think you should wait and let your body recuperate. Give yourself a little bit of time. You can get infections and damage your insides.
