The speed is 1000 Mbits per second.
Ethernet has speeded up over the years, it was originally 10 Mbps, then high speed ethernet, 100 Mbps, then gigabit ethernet, 1000 Mbps. As a matter of interest there is even 10GbE, 10 gigabit Ethernet, but it's only used for extremely high bandwidth LANs and WANs.
