Should I be ashamed of myself?

Not really. I think it boils down to how close this suffering, war, disease, etc. is to you.

It's one thing knowing something... but it's a whole other thing experiencing it or being truly close to it. Sounds like you are young and your family members are all healthy and what not. Nothing wrong with that.

I believe you would be different though, if you took a trip a much poorer, needed country or even an institution or hospital where there are elderly, invalid, mentally deprived people (old and young) etc.

All in all though fun is an essential part of life and no matter how serious things get 4 you, you should never ever not strive to have it. It is ESSENTIAL to life itself.

Even during the Black Death, babies were born, food had to be gathered, and life went on. Moments of fun is a part of life, and yes, you may have your fun for awhile.
