Look at your computer laptop
there it should be a recovery program it come with some laptops ( Sony )
if not, go to download.com (CNET Download.com )
and download the (Handy Backup 5.4.7 ) and try it
if you have a DVD-RW will be cool to have all data on DVD
if not its OK .. CD will work but more Cd's

you should be able to pop in your xp cd or what came with the system and there should be an option to make a disk of this type

If you are looking to back up your computer so you can have it the way it is now in case you have to redo sometime in the future it buy norton ghost.
