I was a shy child, it's all about how the person perceives the outside world. Provide comfort, help their self-esteem in the form of rewards for good behaviour (praise, one-on-one time, etc), and allow lots of discussion about what's happening in their world. Also, be sure not to "talk" for them like answering questions directed at them from other people. Make them feel important in this and other ways.

By doing anything that would make themselves feel better about themselves. They can work out and stay active, maybe get involved in something like volunteer community work. The more confidence they have in themselves the more likely they are to rid themselves of their shyness.

shyness can be overcome by a few simple exercises.

inhale then exhale if you're feeling too shy to approach a stranger. then after getting air for your lungs, give out your sweetest smile. and of course after that a greeting of peace then speak of your need. i am sure that after these exercises, you have been too preoccupied to be shy anymore.

after these, you'll forget that you are anxious and will start asking the stranger of your need.

One has to expose oneself to more challenges so that shyness becomes obsolete. For example, if one is shy before strangers, create more opportunies to meet strangers, nevermind if one falters at start, as experience will blunt your shyness!

Shyness is painful when you want to participate but can't. Most of it is fear of rejection.

Keep reaching out and keep expand the boundaries that keep this shy person hemmed in.

They won't totally come out of it but may find themselves more functional. Push those boundaries.

you need to boost your self-esteem. Always tell yourself you are as important as the people around you, even more. Recognise that others are not superhuman and are therefore capable of making the same mistakes you can possibly make.
